Default Installing Driver Side Mirror

So i finally found a mirror on ebay for about $35 and was freaking happy to finally replace my side mirror. it was damaged by hail last year! anyway, like most of my posts i am new to dodge vehicles (had a 1993 ranger) and dodge forum in general. with the rangers, we just took some screw out of the door panel to get access to the side mirror. however, my 2001 ram has ELECTRIC windows and ELECTRIC/HEATED side mirrors. plus, this bulky mirror adjuster that is hindering this panel from being removed.

if yall could please tell me how to 1) remove the door panel and 2) post pictures on threads

Did you pop the plastic clips too or just remove the screws?

no i haven't done anything to my dodge ram. i was just saying that in comparison to the ford ranger, the dodge seems more complex to remove the door panel. not to mention my ranger was all manual and this ram is all electric. i really want to put on this freakin side mirror..

door pannels are easy, start at the bottom, stick your fingers or a putty knife or a flathead if you dont have a putty knife, kinda pry out a lil bit then pull out and pop the plastic pins loose, then work your way up to the window then lift the pannel right off.

The doorlock/window controls pop out with minimal effort with a flathead and just disconnect the clip for the wires. and dont sweat it if you break any of the little plastic clips, they'er like 3 bucks for a 12 pack at autozone. once you get the pannel off should be 3 11mm or 10mm nuts holding the mirror on, atleast mine did i dont know about the later mondels but it should be the same damn thing.

Edit: Also if you need help posting pictures just email them to me at yakkier@yahoo.com and i will post them for you or you can create a http://www.photobucket.com account and upload them there and use the [IMG] [/IMG] code they give you to post them in one of your threads or posts. Not as hard as it seems

Read above i was too late ^^^

I would search for a merry xmas thread which had the pdf of our manual. I think i saw a write up and the summary was this was the easiest door pannel to remove. I think a few screws and push up on the door panel it unhooks then you unplug the electrical....

You dont have to remove the whole panel.Just take the screws out that are by the mirror and gently pull the panel back.Three ten mm nuts hold it on.You will have to reach down a little to unplug the power source. The big problem with the ebay mirrors is they dont have the steel reinforcement that comes with the factory mirror. If you hold the two mirrors side by side the factory one is way heavier. The aftermarket mirrors vibrate too much for me.My stereo would make it shake.I wound up throwing away my ebay special. Then I repainted the factory mirror and got a replacement glass from my dealer.Much happier. If you do ever have to remove the door panel you will need new trim clips. They are expensive.I bought a box at autozone that were marked ford but they worked fine.

You don't always have to replace all of the clips, some of them may be salvageable.
I got two packs of 25 on ebay for a ford for 5$ each. They didn't fit so I had to put a cut down the center of them with a band saw to reduce the overall diameter and they worked good that way.

These are the proper clips http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Tri...s_p/a19213.htm

They are expensive if you go to the dealer (3.50 apiece) or advance.
And you need something like 13 for one front door panel.
