NO - that's thin .08 sheet.
you need .250 (1/4") plate.

I also need to know what size are the bolts for the plate and the intake manifold. I'm gonna go ahead and skimp on the TTY bolts and just get some grade 8 bolts from the hardware store. I'm not paying $32 for 12 FEL-Pro TTY Bolts. Almost as big of a rip off as the Hughes plate!

i found a good use for the stock steel plate. a guy on DT was talking about making spacers to put under the hughes plate using the same bolts for it and using the steel plate as a splash shield to keep the hot oil from warming up the bottom of the hughes plate

be sure to use shorter bolts also

that sounds pretty genius. I wonder if there are any long term problems associated with that.

I like that idea, too. Poor man Air Gap! The only problem I could think of is lifter galley to plenum plate clearance.
You could also take it a step further and put some sort of insulation in the small indention in the factory steel plenum plate.

My dad said he will talk to a guy we know that works with aluminum and possibly get us some. My dad was really suprised when I told him the plate needed to be 1/4'' thick!

I was thinking even if I wasnt able to get some sheets from someone (which I highly doubt) and had to order it for $60, I would still be saving $30 over the Hughes plate.

And you won't have to deal with hughes, which is the best part.

Hell yeah that is the best part! Plus I will get the satisfaction of DIY'ing, which I love.

I cant wait to go to the Hughes Engines tent this year and possibly protest their bull****!

Haha, then maybe I could shove an APS plate up his ***! I'm pretty sure that your plate isnt that exclusive, Dave. Its just a friggin piece of aluminum, even a 14 year old can make one! But hey, a sucker is born every minute! (I used to be one of them!)
