Tune Up Question!
98 Ram 2500 w5.9 with 32,000. I just tuned her up. Autolite Plugs, Taylor Wires, Napa Cap and Rotor. Truck still had original parts. Plugs looked real bad when I took them out and wires were ok but figured the Taylors would be an upgrade. Cap and rotor looked ok. Anyway, after becoming a contortionist for a few hours, I finally got her done. I guess after seeing how bad the old plugs were, I was thinking I would see a noticable improvement in performance. Not a bit! If anything, maybe a bit worse. Don't know about mileage yet but it definately seems less energetic. However, it does start much better!
When I bought this truck with 19,000 mi., it would run hard. Real hard! Then changed the plenum due to oil consumption and I also think I got the Death Flash which I am sure is partially responsible for the lack of UMMMPH!
I noticed there is a TSB concerning the rerouting of the wires. Is this worth the effort? Any other thoughts?
Thanks !

youre not gonna see too much in performance with just that ive come to realize. did the same thing on mine. i routinely inspect parts and am a tight *** when it comes to changing bad or worn parts. the best thing ive found for straight bolt on performance is an intake, get rid of that cat n put on a free flowing catco from summit some headers and a free flowing 3" exaust. all depends how much you wanna spend n time you wanna put into it too. i put one step colder plugs in mine run accel 8.8 wires coil n cap n it runs really smooth. but thats all you should expect. i still only get 11 mpg in the city but im an auto n run 33's too.
