Welcome to the forum.
This subject has been discussed before, but not for a little while. You can try doing a search if ya like, the link to do so is in the black navigation bar right below where it says "Welcome 01greenram" and shows you how many private messages you have.
Otherwise, I'm sure others will chime in here with their input. Many of done this modification, and if you do some pulling or heavy hauling now and then, I've been told it is worth it.

And good luck with those 35's and 3:55 gears. The tranny will be toast in no time. Do a search here about the tranny(46RE) and the tire size.
You can definitely install a temp gauge. However, depending who you as, you'll get MANY different answers as to the best location for the sender unit. Welcome to the DF. Hope you stick around.

I along with many others here have put it in the front servo port, it usually runs about 130-140 but its been below freezing as long as ive had it, I got stuck monday and it got up to 180, I have a pretty big cooler on it too, it really helps

)I will be installing the sending unit in the pan.
