Default front diff will not lock in

I have a 96 1500 and i changed the front passenger hub. while diong this the axle slid out and i just put it back in. i put every thing together on the truck and the next day i noticed that there was fluid coming out of my axle. so i shifted it into 4x4 and the rear end locks in but the front will not.
if any body has an answer of what it could be please help.

If the fluid doesn't stop coming out after a day or two then that means your axle seal is damaged. As far as it not shifting into 4x4, you may have knocked the seal into the cad unit, and it is preventing the shift collar from sliding over the passenger axle.
