Default Death Flash Confusion

Hi, i'm fairly new here been reading this site for some time but just never posted much because i don't know much. I've been using the search for the past few days to try and read up on this Death Flash and pleneum problem. As far as the Death flash goes how can i tell that i have it, to my knowledge my truck has never been flashed at the dealership. One more qestion "not sure if there is a right answer to it" What headers are the best for my truck it's a 01 1500 5.9. AS i've looked through i've seen those with long tubes but i don't want to redo my whole exhaust.

Thanks for your time, sorry this is probably the 100th time you've answered this question.

Didn't some of the '01s come from the factory with the death flash?

Friggen 3 cats, 4 o2 sensors and death flash, 2 cats monitored and one big one before muff unmonitored, but its set up for true duals if you think about it, but i dont want to even take the chance of it failing smog or throwing codes i just leave it be , besides hacking the big one off .

Welcome to the forum.

There are many different software updates Chrysler could have done to your PCM, but most (if not all) 2000s and 2001s came from the factory with the death flash.

After you fix the plenum, the way to fix the death flash is a tuner of some sort. I'd recommend Superchips or SCT.

my sticker looked different then that one, just look for a sticker covering another one that reads Authorised Software Update.
