Unhappy last leg

Got a 97 Ram 1500 4x4....229000 miles on it. In the last three days my abs and brake light have came on and today it suddenly started skipping.

The brakes have give me no problems plenty of fluid and pedal, new pads on the front only 4 months old.

As for the miss-firing, I was setting at a light then pulled out and it started until I reached about 60-65 mph. It ran this way for about 20 minutes.

Any ideas? Is it dying on me?

Check your fuses. I when my ABS and brake light came on I had a blow fuse. It was something really odd but the lights went out for a while.

For the miss firing have you done a tune up lately or checked your plenum(search)?

Check the fluid level, it might look ok, but if its just a little off it will come on. How is the parking brake? Miss Firing... Hows the Cap and rotor, plugs, try some Seafoam.

With 229k on it, any number of things could be going on.Not many fuel pumps last that long, but it's probably something simple.Tune it up and see if that's it first,as Gerehead8 mentioned. Spark plugs, new wires, distributor cap, and rotor.

for the brake and parking light fix... clean the speed sensor on top of the rear pumkin... that's what I did and it fixed the problem...

as for the miss... check the plugs and ignition.. if everything is good.. plugs wires distributor, cap, coil.. then move on to checking the fuel system... could be a bad fuel pump or clogged filter or clogged injector... try running some Techon Fuel System Cleaner in your next tank and see if that helps... could be as little as bad gas... or major like a plenum
