Engine won't start after changing the tranny. Was running fine.
The good old days.Sticky chokes, drum brakes,30k tuneups, and a quart of oil every thousand miles.Beats the hell out of fuel injection, disc brakes,100k tuneups, and a quart of oil every 5 thousand miles.Oh wait a minute,no it doesnt.Cars had wires back then too.As a mater of fact Ohm's law is pretty much universal reguardless of vehicle year. Why would you think there was a fuse between positive and negative?Stick with your xbox. Now to the problem at hand.Did you fix the crushed wire JC?The wire may be broken internally but the jacket could be intact. We see this a LOT with allison transmission external harnesses.Get out your ohmeter and report back.Sounds like there was enough contact to get you going and a little flexing broke the strands.
Not to highjack the thread but you're a lil off on that one buddy. only thing older engines had was ignition/alt/starter wiring etc
No fuel injection, etc etc no computers to short out or software to program.
There were alot less things that could go wrong on an oldschool engine, and the wiring that it did have was small minute that it wouldnt have been that hard to track down an exposed or broken wire.
Like i said earlier, give me an oldschool engine anyday for the simple fact they'er more reliable on trails and a whole hell of alot easier to work on. Needless to say my father and my grandfather build dragsters all their lives and not once did they goto school for it, Now you barely can pick up a wrench with out having a ****ing PHD.

No problem with the hijack, princess.Never said old cars had computers, just said they had wires, and Ohm's law applies to all electricity. You have obviously never had to live with a carburator,or you would realize what a gift from the heavens fuel injection is.I have been working on cars a long time, and have seen maybe a handfull of computers that were actually bad. Most get changed because some dooshbag doesnt know how to troubleshoot,so he figures he will change parts until he hits the problem.Usually this costs many dollars and doesnt fix anything.Engines used to break just like they do now.Thats why people are mechanics. If you can troubleshoot a wire on a 68 phuckmobile, you can do it on a 10 pisswagen, there are just going to be more of them.Enroll in night skool at the local community college. They could learn ya a bit.I used to have a 77 jeep cj5.After going up hill the carb float used to flip up and flood out the truck.Almost shat myself a few times with that rig.My new wrangler doesnt do that.Im sure your proud of your dad.My dad did airframe and powerplant maintenance for a major airline,he went to school for that.As far as needing a PHD to work on cars.....well,I work with a lot of guys that make me wonder how they wipe their asses without getting **** in there hair.
Listen pop's if you wanna talk **** you came to the wrong place, if you want to come on here spitting fact's thinking you're big **** then you can blow me. Dont ever think for a second you can treat me like a school boy because i promise you i will leave you with your head spinning.
And yes i may not have grown up in that time but i have had more than one car with a carb and i have had many different fuel injected cars and i can tell you hand's down you're a ****ing idiot if you think for a second it's easier to trouble shoot a wiring harness with 50 different wires going in 50 different ways, than it is to troubleshoot an engine that has a wiring harness that only control's 4 or 5 different things.
And thirdly dont ever talk about my father or grandfather you punkass little asswipe, i'v been dealing with ****head's like you all of my life and they always end up sitting there like an idiot with their thumb up their *** and their dick in their hand.
Dont **** with me..

so lets get back on subject here and try to help him figure this out. argueing over new v.s old isnt gonna fix anything, opinions are opinions. obviously there is an issue somewhere between the battery...and the coil....im gonna say its somewhere in the wiring or computer. get under your truck and do a very thorough check on everything you unplugged when you changed the trans, check every fuse and relay under the hood and under dash.
.Wow if a moron that doesnt know the difference between positive and negative is helpfull then I am in the wrong place. Is that a picture of your dad smacking your mullet headed mouth?Internet tough guys, dime a dozen.Do you always talk about dicks so much?Well sounds like you couldnt fix a peanut butter sandwich,so I guess I'll get off this topic, just like I did your mom
