hey guys i have a 95 dodge ram 2500 that had a diesel engine in it and also have a 95 1500 that has a 318 auto trans in it but its on the verge of bein junk but has a freshly rebuilt trans and a strong runnin 318 so ive decided im going to pull the engine and trans and put it in the three quarter ton my question is, will i have to re wire the whole cab of the diesel with the wires from my gas motor or will the wire harness from the gas motor plug into where the diesel motor unpluged? i know im going to have to chang out computers but was wondering if the all the wires under the dash that came out to the plug in the firewall was the same in both the gas and diesel or if they were diff thanks for your input in advance ohh and im new to the site as well

 

my god honesty truth... keep the cummins.... it will serve you much better... the 318 is strong, but the trans are crap, i am currently lookign for one for cheap... cause i have a freashly rebuilt one in mine, and its bad

 

ohhh belive me i would like to but i dont have the cummins the guy i bought the parts truck from pulled it and the trans out and sold it and i dont want to spend five grand putting another cummins and trans back into a 15 yr old truck just want to make one nice one out of the two

 

if you are looking for the cummins you can find them all day long on ebay and craigs list for cheap. You will be happier with it than the 318. In reguards to your question you might run in to some issues with putting the 318 in because it has more crap on it than the cummins. If you really want it though there is a company that makes a plug in play harmess just for that convertion.
