A quick look will tell you it won't work. These frames are not just 2 straight bars. The frame is lower where the cab sits then it raises up to meet the bottom of the box. So if you try to put an extended cab on a reg cab frame the back of the cab will sit on the box part of the frame and will be to high.

the wheel base on a reg cab long bed is 4 inches shorter than an ext cab short bed so that would easily tell you that it wont work without some modification to both body mounts and relocation of rear axle at least.

Even if you could pull it off its going to be a frankenstein that personally I would never trust to hold up to the abuse its going to be put through, so unless you have major fabrication skills, I would say your better off swapping internals instead of bodies

The best way to do it is to find a truck thats the same as yours, ext short or even a ext long and take your cab and swap it, anything you do will take many hours and will require fab work, which is why most people just buy another truck but if you have the time and you have someone to help you if your stuck go for it
