Default Overhead console question...

My 99 Laramie has the display in the overhead console and everything functions except for the compass (always shows E and CAL) and the trip odometer on the console is fixed at 0.0mi. The odometer and trip odometer work on the cluster so I have nothing else to indicate any problems. The main thing I am trying to figure out is how to recalibrate the compass. Any ideas are appreciated.

Welcome to DF.

Maybe you should try replacing the overhead unit with one from a salvage yard that is in good condition. Otherwise, I think you might be looking at wiring issues.

Others will chime in with more thoughts.

Eh i had a problem like this in my durango, i ended up just snaging one out of the junkyard and it worked fine after that. My guess it would be that there was something wrong with the board it self.

Edit: he beat me to it.

I have not had too many complaints with it I suppose... It shows my avg mpg around 15.4 and that is actually very close to the actual mpg. I have been using it on distance to empty anyways so I suppose it is not too big of a deal, just nice to have things work as they should. I am sure that I am not alone on that one.

Default Mine is working great. but.....

I had one on a z71 act erratic, replaced it and fixed problem. I'd go to a junkyard and grab one.
