Default Codes

My truck started to get a miss
Got code p0300 p0301 p0302 p0303 p0304 p0305 p0306 p0307 p0308 I know thats a miss fire code
I replace the Dist cap, rotor and plugs about 3 months ago I removed the cap today and plugs and everything looks good
Only have the miss at idle its fine under load
Any guesses I dont have a cranksensor code and yes there is no oil in the intake
the engine is a 5.2 on a 4x4
Thanks
Mike

Since you replaced the cap, rotor, and plugs, I'd say it could be any of the following:
  • Faulty ignition coil
  • Faulty camshaft position sensor
  • Defective computer
Some are far more likely than others, but the first thing I'd do is check the coil.

What year of truck is it? You should create a signature with your truck info in there.

Sorry the truck is a 98
I sprayed the coil down with water didnt see any light show
If it was a camshaft sensor wouldn't I get a Code?
I forget to say the truck doesn't have the problem all the time

That's what I was thinking have half a tank right now going to run it right down and then fill it up and see if the problem is still there I don't feel like throwing parts at it till I know its not bad gas

The cam and crank sensors do not always give you a CEL.

the Camshaft position sensor controls the firing of the fuel injectors.
--Take off your distributor cap it is the disc thing under your rotor. It is what the electrical connector goes to on your distributor (connects to wiring harness by the firewall.

The Crank position sensor controls the spark. It reads the teeth of the flywheel magnetically. It is located on the bellhousing. TO "feel" it you need to get in your engine compartment and get on the left side (passenger side). Reach your hand down the engine block between the intake and head (between the engine block and firewall). It is connected by two bolts and you need a spring ratchet extension to get it off. Very tight squeeze. WHen i replaced mine, it was covered in fine metal particles.

I did not have to replace mine because of engine codes. i had a fire under my hood and had to replace every sensor and the wiring harness on my truck.

Right on!!. It shows up as a missfire code. But I think his problem is because of injector connections without the wire clips. THat will give you a missfire every time.

Try these fixes in order (cheapest to most expensive):

1. Check injector connectors for loose ones. or ones without clips. Repair and drive.

2. Still no dice, chance the Cam position sensor.

3. Change coil.

Actually I think #1 can be more expensive than #2. If you need new connectors, the pigtails ussually cost about 12-14 dollars PER CONNECTOR. then you need to solder them and get shrink tube.

I will run the gas out of it first( I live in Canada I got the gas at a Shell Station)
When I had the Cap off today I looked at the cam sensor)
I will update this in a few days
Thanks
Mike
