Thanks for the input everyone.
Can rule out cracked wire[s], just put on a new set weeks ago. Also observed in semi dark for any arcing, didn't see or hear any.
I tried simply resetting the PCM last time this happened, cleared the codes but symptoms remained, thats when I changed the plugs, and the problem went away for a couple weeks, only to return.

I dunno, guess I'm going to tinker around and see if I can find anything amiss, do a compression check, maybe reroute the wires per TSB instructions.

Does it do it at all engine temperatures, hot and cold?

It could also be the cam sensor (disc underneath the distributor that has a connection to the wiring harness by the firewall). That controls the fuel injection firing.

A couple of my injector wires are missing the clips and I just used zip ties to hold them on, seems to be working out just fine for me.

That camshaft position sensor is around 100$ at the stealership and I had to pay that because I didn't know that the parts stores call it a pickup coil or a distributor pickup. They're 37$ at o'reilleys and 50$ at advance.
I went to the parts stores asking for a camshaft position sensor and they just looked at me like they were retarded.

Highly unpredictable, the 4 times this has happened have been after running at least 10 miles or so, hard to say if temp/running time is a factor.

Since the misfire codes are in 3 specific cylinders, I'm leaning towards an injector/fuel rail problem, as has been suggested.

unplug the injectors and test them (ohms) with a multi meter. The injectors are supposed to read between 12 and 15 ohms, but ideally they will read 12.4 ohms.

yeah, I got mine from rockauto.com. They are a good deal if you are getting lots of things, otherwise the shipping cancels out.

ALso the Haynes manual lists the cam position sensor as CPS and the crankshaft position sensor as CKP. THat was really mesing me up. ut I needed to replace BOTH so it made no difference.

As for the zip ties...never thought that could be a good fix. Glad they are working for you. Now I know what to do in case mine ever falter.

power off. unplug the injector and test injector itself, not the wire. you can test the wire (back probe with it running i believe), but I would have to look up the voltage for it.
