Just a couple problems with my 2000 1500 sport, need some help.
Well I bought a Dodge, I needed a bigger truck because I couldn't fit lawn tractors in my chevy s10.
What I got was a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport package 4x4 with the 5.2L Magnum V8. Extended cab, 6 foot bed.
Green with 102,000 miles on it. Got it for $2500 due to the dent in the front corner panel.
Anyhow I did some research online but couldn't find answers to a couple small issues and Im looking for some help.
1. My first problem is that when I first start the truck up, I can hear alot of air moving through the heater core and it really gets annoying and takes awhile to go away.
2. My shifter seems to be out of alignment with the markings on the column...is there a fix or adjustment?
3. My front door speakers do not work, both sides, I do not have the infinity system, but the previous owner did install an aftermarket head unit? Is it likely just my speakers?
4. I did some research online and heard all the horror stories about Dodge's Transmissions and I've come up with a couple things to extend the life of my transmission including an external Transmission cooler plus, inline cooler filter, and a temperature gauge. Is there anything anyone else would recommend?
Thanks in advance

Hey man First off I'd like to welcome you to Dodgeforum. A couple things you want to search for here is plenum. You have a dodge so likely the plenum is blown. So do a search for that it will probly need replaced.
Now as for your questions.
If your speakers are blown you can go and get you a nice set of 6x9's if i recall right. I'll be corrected if I'm wrong. The lining of the column there is an adjustment on the cable but I'm not 100% sure how to adjust it but I know it can be done. And the air moving in the heater core is most likely that you're low on coolant when the truck is cold take the radiator cap off and see how much fluid is in the radiator. Also check the canister on the side of the radiator. SO you can search for most of those things and you'll probly find an answer in here. And as an FYI fill out your sig and truck info so you can get answers faster without describing your truck every time. And welcome again.

1. If you have air in the system, give this a shot. Park on an incline with the radiator as the highest point. Start the truck with the radiator cap off. Once it warms up hopefully when the thermostat opens you will give it a way to escape. Also make sure you have coolant in your overflow.
2. There should be an adjustment screw under the lower dash section.
3. My factory passenger side door speaker quit working until I replaced the fronts with a set of pioneers. Since someone has messed with it, it is hard to tell what they have done. Your going to have to pull either the radio to check the wiring, or pull the door and start from there. Ask the previous owner what the deal is if possible.
4. trans cooler is a good start, I just installed one a month ago. But maintaining it properly from day one is your best bet. It's a luck of the draw though. my truck never pulled a trailer a day of its life (never had a hitch), and completely stock. Stock trans lasted for 80k.

i would like to welcome you to the forum, and as for your trans, unfortunatily ( im bad at spelling) the trans on the things go, so, it would be a good idea, to either, a; buy a second trans to keep on hand for when yours blows, or have a few bucks saved up to have yours rebuilt...
the heater core, it is just air in the system, or low, like the previous guys said, so just do like they said, im not going to repeat...
the speakers, even if its not the problem, repllace the front door speakers, all stock setups( even teh infinity, or a good set up) isnt that good... go out to an audio store like best buy, or circuit city, what ever is around you, and buy a good set of speakers and have them install them, if there is a further problem, they will find it and tell you, and be able to fix it if yu desire....
the adjustment, just go by feel, ya know, one click is rev, three clicks and its drive.... should be about all you need... but if you do desire, there is the adjustment pain in the back side under the dash....
deffinatly search the plenums and kegger mod on here... it will save you in gas money in the long run... its the differance of either like 9 mpg to about 15 mpg...
again, welcome to the forum, and jsut remember, if you have any questions about your truck, do not feel bad about asking, there is no stupid questions expect for the ones not asked.... we have all been there and done it
