Default Lots of problems

I just got my hands on my fathers' old 1999 Ram 1500 5.2L Quad Cab Automatic. He took good care of it, but had to sell it 3 years ago. I couldn't afford it then so a kid bought it and beat it up pretty bad. Any and all advice is appreciated. If it was any other truck I would've walked away from it but I wanted it because it was my Dads.
1. Rear end howling/whining thru all gears and changes pitch with vehicle speed. During acceleration and deceleration, not really noticeable until about 15-20 mph. Only time it doesn't is in park and coasting in neutral. Any ideas?
2.Transmission seems a little squirrelly. When it hits 3rd gear at 30mph it feels like it shifts too early and a slight shudder or vibration until I reach 4th at 40-42mph. If I accelerate a little harder between 30 and 40mph I can't feel it.Also, on the dash, when I select a gear the indicator is right on park and neutral but in all forward gears it's not lined up right. I serviced the transmission(atf+4)it was still pink and no metal in the pan. Hopefully something relatively easy?
3. Bad radiator, driver side tank leaking.
4. Power steering pump leaking.
5. U-joints bad, especially the rear.
6. Drivers side window motor shot.
Other than all of that, and probably a dozen other things I haven't found yet, it's in great shape! Thanks!

If it doesn't make noise coasting in neutral, it's probably not the rearend.

The light shifts probably are coming from a misadjusted TV cable. Definately get this adjusted soon or your tranny can burn up. I woud do a search to find this, I am sure it has gotten covered here before.

Thanks for the replies. An update on the howling/whining noise. I havent driven it much since I got it, didn't want to screw it up worse. I have been test driving it around for the past hour and when I keep it in 1st or 2nd gear no noise, only noisy in 3rd and 4th and the shuddering and vibration between 30 and 40 is still present even when I keep it in 2nd gear. If it needs a rebuild then I'm screwed.

Update on the noise. I took it to the transmission shop..a couple of guys drove it but the only thing they can tell me is that it is the transmission and they would have to tear it down to find it. "Could be anything from solenoid chatter to broken rings" their exact quote. $500 to remove it, tear it down find the prob. So, until I can afford that I'm gonna work on the other things. Thanks again for the replies.
