Anyone using a MP PCM with fuel other than premium? I'm thinking about going to a 180 t-stat and the MP PCM. I did this on a 93 5.2 along time ago and if my memory is correct this worked out okay on mid grade (89oct.). I'd like to improve performance while possibly increasing fuel economy. The truck is a 1500, LWB, auto, 2wd with 60,000 miles on it.

 

90 is the min I use for gas, anything less and it will not like it at all. I run Husky 90 or chevron 91 or better only.

 

Way back, filled the Indys tank with 87 by mistake. Was probably only making about 250-255rwhp(335-340crank) then. No ping whatsoever which surprised me. FYI, Ive always driven it like I stole it & every single drive sees WOT a few times Does that mean your wont ping, not neccessarily. Maybe best to try it with an near empty tank & add 1/4 of lower grade to see. Only use name brand gas.

 

Yeah only use name brand gas. Also no matter what people say there isn't any significant difference between 89 and 91 gas, just the price.

 

i have run 89 in my 94 with the MP stage one PCM it runs ok does ping under heavy throttle
