Since stock backspacing is 5.5" on at least the older trucks (I don't know what wheels you have) then the wheel/tire will stick out another 1.25".

Keep in mind that, the farther the wheel sticks out you are putting extra stress on the hub bearings, and they will wear out quicker than they already do. just sayin

I have factory 16x7 aluminum wheels.1.25 is perfect, but since the new wheel is 16x8 will it stick out further?I cant seem to get this wheel math straight.I wouldnt want the wheels to stick out 2.25 inches from fender.I want to be sure before getting the new wheels sent out. Thanks again for any help.

Thanks for the heads up about the bearings, zman.I am seriously thinking about dumping the unit bearings and putting on the ems hub kit.Expensive, but no more unit bearings,CAD,and ability to use 2wd low.We just need another 6 inches of east coast snow for me to pay for it....

All that means is the wheels are 1" wider so .5" on each side so the wheel will be out 1.75 more than stock. If you are putting the same tires on they will not buldge as much so they will not stick out as far. I think it will be what you are looking for.

Close, but not true. They will be more around 2.25" further out from the stocker (depending on what the actual backspacing is of the stock wheels).

Although it is simply adding/subtracting numbers (and small numbers at that), it can still quite difficult and mind boggling to figure where a new wheel will sit in comparison to the original one. But, the backspacing is the key... since the inside of NEW the wheel will be approximately 1-1.25" further out from the original wheel location (depending on the actual backspacing of the original rim), AND it is an inch wider of a wheel (which that inch has to be on the outside only, cause backspacing is already in place), well, that means they will be sticking 2-2.25" further out from the original ones.

WOW,Im glad you said that.I thought that it would add up to 2.25,which is more than I want.I would like to get right at 1 to 1.5 inches out.If I get 4.50 backspacing with 0 offset in 16x8 where do you think that would put me?Thanks again for the input.I only have one chance at gettin this right, cause the wife will never let me drop cash on rims again.PS whats the offset on those off road rims. They look pretty good.

4.5" of backspacing will still be around 2" further out than the stockers.

The off road wheels are 8" wide and the backspacing is around 5.25". They are pretty well flush with the fenders, just a touch beyond with a wide tire.
