Default strut for front band

I have a 2001 2500 with the v-10 and an auto. (yeah baby) anyway I found the strut for the front band in my trans pan today. Can I re-install this strut without dropping the trans?? I looked around a bit however, I am no mechanic.

I think you have to drop the valve body, but yeah it can be reinstalled. That front band must have been WAY out of adjustment (if not completely burned up) for the strut to fall out

Default well......

It was slipping some, from the second to third shift, however, once you got by the slip, it was fine.

thanks for the info. I will drop the valve body and give it a shot.
