When i first got my truck it read alittle higher then the OP, then i switched to 180 t-stat which lowered it to where the OP pic is , then i switched back to 195 t-stat before winter, and the gauge still reads the same as when i had the 180 t-stat in there and didnt go back to where it used to be . I dissconected the battery but didnt turn on the headlights to fully drain it, dont know if that makes a diff or not

Mine sat in that exact location when I put a 180* in. Only issue I had was I kept getting the 1281 code so I put the 192* back in no issues.

I was wondering the same thing with my truck. I owned a 96 that would be at 210 all the time. Now, my truck doesn't seem to go over 190. It goes up a little bit with the AC on. But still nowhere near 210.

Its not goning to hurt anything with a lower stat.[/quote]

it may make it run rich, thinking the motor isnt up to temp yet. if your motor doesnt make the open/closed loop switchit can affect alot of things

Default Why does my temp stay here: My experience

I had the exact temp issue with my 97 RAM 1500. Also have heat. In addition, the bottom hose stays cool. After changing thermostat, temp sensor, water pump, flushing cooling system... it stays the same. I've accepted that my truck is just 'cool'. Of course, I spent $500 to arrive at that conclusion Hope this helps.
