my temp gauge doesn't go any higher than this. Heater blows hot and its been 60 to 70 degrees. Just put in a 180 t stat it works fine. Would too much antifreeze make it do this or could it be a bad sensor?

well it looks like its sitting at about 170-175...... and you said you did just put in a 180 stat right? this could be a problem if it never reaches 180 only because at about 180 thats when your closed/open loop changes and you can run into some issues with codes being thrown such as somethign along the lines of "engine cold too long", i not sure of the exact wording. this said, the truck might not run the way you would think it should bc it never reaches operating temp and makes the open/closed loop switch

I guess its fine, i just wasn't expecting that big of a difference on the needle, it would run hotter than that before I changed it even with the stat hung open. oh well hasn't thrown a code or anything that I know of.

HA I wish! these goddamned tires start shakin like a biatch at around 100. 120 is about the fastest I dare drive lol

I DID have an old 87 Camry, my first car when I was 18, up over 200 going downhill, with a DONUT TIRE on the rear no less. They rate them things for 80 km/h max, I dunno why? it held together alright, but talk about a funny noise comin from it at that speed but I was a teenager at the time, so I was invincible lol

my 180 stat runs just a smidgen higher, with the base of the red needle just touching on the 2. are you sure you put in a 180, or could it have been a 160.

if you've got heat, and no check engine light - i'd leave it be.

Mine runs at the same exact thing as the OP. I havent had a problem with it throwing any codes. No problems AT all.. So you should be fine.

I have a question tho. I guess the person that had my truck put in a cooler t stat? Is this what that means? Ever since i got my truck its ran in that exact same spot. Didnt know it, i thought it was running in the normal range that all rams ran.

Ive always been the kind of person to not want a cooler t stat. But i guess i have one? I guess it'll help out here in FL tho... Or should i put in a stock one?

Mine is in the same position as the OP's. I run a 180 stat, I get an occasional p1281 code for engine cold too long.

PWR, more than likely is was swapped to a 180, the 195 stats bump the needle up a little more. MHO, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Its not goning to hurt anything with a lower stat.
