I just finished doin mine this weekend. Took a little longer than I anticipated but I also had some random issues come up. The DIY in the FAQ section is awesome. Helped me out when it got tough. But once you get the accessory bracket off and the alternator and A/C compressor its a breeze. Just don't bust the little connector hose.

I just did mine with Hughes as well and had no shortage of parts, plate was a little scuffed, but nothing to do any harm around the gasket area. They also answered phones everytime I called and were helpfull...plus it was here the day they said it would be!

Might look into the kegger mod also, but it takes some more down time for your truck, and can be a PITA if you have a bad back and shoulders haha.

I went with a Fel-Pro plenum gasket instead of the one sent with Hughes, just cause it looked a little better, but many have used the hughes gasket with no issues. If you pull the injectors, get new o-rings...again, Fel-Pro makes a nice set. Upper bypass hose is a good idea also. Make sure you have a good in/lb torque wrench that goes to 7 in/lb (I think thats the lowest you need).

Ask any questions if you need anymore help. With the help of this forum, the job went pretty well. Im mechanically inclined, but never took the intake mani off, and it wasnt too difficult. Just take your time. Brake cleaner is what I used to clean out the gunk

Good luck!

Definitly make sure you get an inch pound torque wrench.

For sure get an in/lb torque wrench! You can use a ft/lb and convert it over, but an intake manifold isnt something you want to put back together and go...****...I didnt torque it right and now I have to redo it all and get new gaskets and bolts!

Well aside from the random problems I had with wires and plugs and hoses I had the job done in about 8 to 12 hours. So you can do it in a day with no issues. But as we all know that when you work on your vehicle you will have issues. lol

Dont stress out about it. I did mine as well wth the hughes kit, and it was actually a breeze. Check out the write ups on it, it will tell you everything you need to know. Just make sure everything gets cleaned and everything is organized and you shouldnt have a problem.

Its an easy job IMO...only specialty took needed is a fuel line disconnect (dont know if someone above mentioned it, i didnt read the other posts.)

dont worry hank Im in the same boat as you. I just ordered the hughes kit today and im still debating If i want to try and attempt it myself or pay the mechanic the $480 he quoted me for it. If I do it myself that gives me an excuse to buy some new tools and every one knows you cant have enough of them

Are you SURE your plenum is blown? Your mileage seems a little low for this to occure.
