I know I need to get mine done and really don't want to pay to have it done, kinda in the same boat as you. Wondering if I will mess something up or forget to put something back. I will tear into a rear end or swap an engine or work on any type of ATV for hours but tearing the top off my engine for my everyday truck has got me nervous.

If you could re-build a rear-end, the plenum gasket should be a breeze. Just take your time, there is no need to be intimidated.

Make sure while the intake mani is off to try and get all the pieces of gasket that might be laying in the valley. I took a shop vac to mine. Also, when you scrape the gasket area...cover up the valley so everything doesnt fall in (cardboard box cut up with some rags along the sides works well!)

i did mine with just a standard foot pound torque wrench, and not an inch pound. just convert the numbers. 12 in lbs = 1 ft lb.

the plenum plate is something like 72 in lb which is just 6 ft lb.

Once you get the fan off it is a breeze. Make sure you have the right tools to remove it or you will waste hours. You will find that you use a 1/2 and a 9/16 wrench pretty much exclusively.

I went and bought an intake from the parts yard and had a buddy of mine make an aluminum plate for mine, but after i cut the runners and ported it. Spent the weekend and welded it to the intake. Never leaked again!

Mine was blown at 49,000 miles when I bought the truck.
