Default 96 Ram Sport build thread. In honor of my Pap

To make a long story short, my pap died a few years ago and my mother bought his last truck from the estate and gave it to me as i was working construction and a truck would be pretty useful... He bought her brand new, but as he got older he just beat it up here and there quite a bit, his health was failing and he was just rough with stuff...

I'll be posting pictures here shortly, dents all over and could use alot of cosmetic TLC.

The truck has somewhere to the tune of 70,xxx miles (almost 20K of them i put on her) and still tickin great.

Im a new member here so hopefully I'll be able to find useful info here on technical stuff.

In honor of Paul Snider, my pap lets begin this long journey shall we

First off, I'm currently laid off and have some time on my hands (not so much money so im doing some stuff thats mainly costing just time)

The headliner is falling and bubbling and I've got everything off, except the holy crap handle above the passanger seat. Any pointers how to get this baby down before i get out some tools that will eliminate me from putting it back on later good ole handy dany tin snips... I'd like to keep it if i can keep my patience long enough

~Tim

EDIT: there holy crap handle (for lack of knowing the proper term) is screwed into brackets attached the the roof obviously, but on each side theres a cover over the screw to make it look pretty. these covers have ear type snaps that you gotta pretty much pinch (side to side) to safely remove. Twas a pain to get those off, other than that the overhead console pretty much slid back towards the rear of the truck and then i just had to disconnect the lighting wires. The B pillar trim had those plastic push rivets, they were off before to add some aftermarket speakers. The A pillar trim had 2 metal clips on each piece that slid out the door. they were easy to figure out... Sorry about the ramble, tring to give as much detail as possible to help out the next guy.

Got the headliner down, now im working on tearing off the grey flaky padding thats directly underneath the fabric... Then Im planning on covering the fiberglass panel in more resin, then preping for paint... It'll take me awhile as I'm also working on a few other projects around the house. Pictures to follow

Just changes the passanger mirror yesterday as well, the truck didn't quite fit in paps garage when he got it, that and hard to tell what else so the mirror shroud plastic chrome covered pieces were busted accordingly lol.

Working on gettin the drivers side outta one of my next unemployment checks then I'll be able to throw that on as well to make em both look shiny again. They're under $50 bucks on ebay after shipping and all, and they're power mirrors so I figured that was probally pretty cheap.

Eventually the truck will need paint, but thats like forever away, 10,000 dents all over to fix first... lol this is probally a decent picture to see the beat up paint job... Then outa no where... BAM! shiny mirror gotta love it. Right now that mirror looks so outta place cause the drivers sides all beat up still. heh

I live in Litersburg but I use Smithsburg cuz that's where I went to school. A new pant job is all ya need and that thing should be purty sweet, its a good base to start with since it only has 60k on her.
