'01 Off-Road Edition Ram Sport
Anyone else have one of these? I bought this truck a couple years ago for my son, and after some unfortunate life events, I have taken it back from him. I was working in Colorado when he found it, so I had not seen the truck he picked out, just signed the paperwork. LOL. Anyway, I've had it now for about a year. It's lifted about 5 inches, has 35" tires (which I put on after I got it) and overall is a really nice truck (I'll get some pics up soon). Now, it says Off-Road on the tailgate, but untill recently I had never thought much about it. I want to put new shocks on, and it has some cosmetic things, some surface rust on the rear bumper and what-not, and I guess I just figured some of the things I see on this truck were installed with the lift. But now it appears that these things are maybe factory installed items. It has rear long-arm traction bars, dual front shocks a heavier than normal front-axle and I now know that at least 2 of the 5" lift is factory as well, and although I don't have them, it came with 17" wheels as well. So, what can anyone tell me about these trucks, I think whoever put the additional 3" lift may have not known about it either, the front axle is off-center about 1 to 1 and 1/2 inches so it needs an adjustable track arm installed as well. it drives fine and you really have to look to notice it, but I know and it needs to be addressed. So, anyone?
Your truck is similar to mine. Only mine is not sport. the only difference is cosmetic. You are correct. Your truck did come with a stock 2" lift and 17" alloy rims like mine only silver. About the off center axle: I can't be of much help. It seems to me that most lifted trucks arn't perfectly alligned.
I guess I'm asking about the options that came with the truck. I know the front axle is supposed to be heavier, but what size is that. That sort of thing. Here are the pics...

4:10 gears? That's great! The posi-trac back there locks instantly under throttle too. Pretty dicy on the snow and ice covered roads in two wheel drive this winter. It's seen a lot of 4-wheel drive this winter with all the snow we've had this year. I love this truck! It's cost me a small fortune, but it's pretty awesome. I call it my "fishin' truck". The tires I put on it are flat out bad-***, the best tire I've ever used. BFG KM-2 Mud Terrains. These things will dig, we have this man-made lake south of here I went fishing at last year after a bunch of rain and snow melt, I didn't see the sign that was supposed to show the road was closed, until I came out, smashed all over the ground. But it was a gravel road 15 years ago into the valley before they flooded it. Years of rain and snow melt had made for some pretty deep ruts from the run-off, but I figured I could turn around at the bottom and get a run up to the top. No-way with the slimy, heavily crested road surface at the edge of the lake. I kinda figured I wasn't supposed to have a truck down there once I had traveled down that steep, rutted road, so I didn't stay to fish... That thing backed right up that 1/4 mile hillside. I never would have made it without those tires. Highly recomended! and they're not noisy at highway speeds either, they are the quietest mud tire I have ever owned.
