Default Front Axle Seals... CAD?

So It's time for front axle seals... I had a transmission shop replace the axle joint s and they neglected to tell me that they do not offer THAT service. I get home and left a nice dollar sized 90w stain in my driveway. Not to mention the u-joint c-clip is missing and the axle has a mind of it's own now. Anyway, I'm looking at the DIYs and it mentions something about a CAD axle. I know I can handle the job myself, just never heard the term "CAD". What is it and how do I know I have one?

And yes I did take it back to the shop but their warranty is only 90 days, today is day 92. Go figure.

CAD - Central Axle Disconnect
Means you don't have locking hubs.
To get the seals out and in is a little PITA, but its doable.
To make the job easier rent tools for installing CAD axle seals.
Hope this helps

Right on! I just looked it up and said to myself. DUH! I hate to start a new thread. I have a whole list of tools I will need anyway. I was told the hub nut is a 1 11/16" Cannot seem to find one. Everyone has Metric. As for the seal tool, how much do these normally run? Need to know which plastic demon to bring, Visa or Master Card. LOL

I did my seals today, dont get discouraged, mine popped right out, just take a broom end and hammer it against the seal, and it will pop into the CAD housing, and the drivers seal will fall into pumpkin once carrier is removed.

I couldn't find a 1 11/16 so I used a 1 3/4. It worked great and slip at all. I've read some other people on here have done this too.

FWIW the axle nut is actually 43 mm but a 1 11/16" will work. A 1 3/4" will too but it's a little loose.

I used a 1 11/16 from NAPA- $40. Not a problem so far. Removed both hubs, axles, actuator, and had to stop. Sun went down. As for the tool to install the seals I found one at Advance Auto for under $10. The JACKA$$ that charged me $1100 for the axle joints and wheel hub install, let's just say I'd like to break his seal with an axle shaft and beat him with the other one. I'm just debating on going back and getting some kinda refund. He didn't press the u-joint all the way in and failed to install the c-clip. Also NO anti-sieze was used ANYWHERE! SKYLINE TRANSMISSIONS-- BAD IDEA!

Also would like to add the fluid that was drained looked like a metallic milkshake. No shavings luckily... I just can;t get over the fact I passed up a vacation to pay for these sub-par services.

Ok, so no luck whatsoever with removing the chunk. Pryed till my back hurt. It doesn't want to come out. Looked everywhere local for a "Case Spreader" no luck there either. I've never heard of that until I read the DIYs. Any ideas?
