Default Auto Guard security system?

I just purchased a '99 ram 1500 4x4. It has a 4 digit keypad on the bottom edge of the dash that says AGII Professional Series on the front and Auto Guard on the back. It is connected to a control box under the dash that appears to be piggy backed into several of the wires under the dash. I can't tell if it is aftermarket or a factory installed item, but there isn't anything in the owners manual about it. Anyone familiar with this item?

Hi! Did you ever find anything out about your AGII Professional Series? Almost 2 years ago I bought a '97 Ram 2500 4x4 diesel with a low 26k miles on it, and it has the same thing. I have 2 key fobs for it, and didn't think too much of it, until one of them quit working today. It's not a problem, I have the other, but here's the deal:

The outer button (away from key ring) is the one that unlocks the doors. That one quit working, but the inner button still makes the LED light up well. The other key fob is going to end up the same way, since it is already temperamental. I'm wondering if you have encountered the factory re-program code for the 4-digit control panel under the steering column? Or have you found a copy of an owner's manual for the keyless entry system somewhere?

Thanks, anything you can help with is greatly appreciated.

If you'll notice, the thread you are posting in here is over a year old, and the original poster has a total of four posts. Chances are good he isn't around any more...

Best bet for you is going to be contacting the company that made the alarm, and see if you can get replacement parts, and an owners manual for it. They may even have them available on their website. (or, someones website.....)

In any event, Welcome to DF.

I saw the post was old but thought he might get an email about posting on his thread and might have found something. I have searched for the manufacturer, but the only thing I have found anywhere close is a UK company providing building securities. Has anyone else ever heard of the Auto Guard keyless entry system or manufacturer?

Its not factory, however, it may have been a dealership installed item at the original owner's request. It was an aftermarket security system offered by some dealerships back in the early to middle '90s, not sure how it got onto a 1999.

The only information I have been able to find is on other forums, as the Auto Guard company was either bought out long ago or went out of business. I would have it removed... according to the same forums, they are known to be very unreliable, and some are connected to a starter interrupt of some sort. Any competent auto security system installer should be able to trace the wires and remove it for you.
