Default started my tranny swap. got some ?s

I started removing my transmission today. To start: This is my magnet less than 3000 miles after a fluid change.

Anyhow, I have a few questions in removing this old hulk. First, is about the crank position sensor. In my 01, is the sensor attatched to the transmission in any way? Because I can't see it to remove it.
Next: I can't make heads or tails of the shift linkage. Does the whole assembly need to be dissassembled?
And last: Do I have to remove the exhaust? Can I get away with disconecting the transmission, pulling it back and then lowering it to avoid the exhaust pipe that crosses below the transmission bell.

PS. heres my shiny new 46re

first, that magnet is fine, iv seen a thousand times worse.
second, the crank position sensor is bolted to the block, inbetween the trans and motor directly behind the pass side head.
you do not need to remove the exhaust, but that PITA crossmember gotta go

Ok then. I already have the rear crossmember and skid plate removed. I have the transmission supported so I can remove the other crossmember, front dirveshaft and transfer case.

Crank sensor is not attached to tranny it bolts to engine. Make sure the wire for it is not caught between tranny and engine when you install tranny.
I did not do anything with exhaust when I removed mine just pull it back and lower it slowly. Be careful around the oxygen sensors while you doing this, they break really easy ask me how I know!!
Shift linkage, there are arms coming off the tranny that the shift linkage hook to, remove these at the tranny.

I recently replaced my tranny all by myself, yes it is a PITA! You do have a new torque converter to go with that new tranny right??? BTW, that magnet looks good, I don't ever remember seeing one any cleaner honestly.

I was hearing bad things about Milleneum Transmission from someone here. If I recall, they said there Milleneum tranny lasted they only 70K miles. I'm rebuilding my tranny myself. If you need any help, just give me a holler. I'll do my best.
