Usually if you beat on them enough they'll pop off.
You gotta do it side to side, top to bottom, or else it'll bind up.
Best bet would be to use a little block of wood along the edges, and a mini sledge hammer.

I think also you can access the self adjuster star screw from the back and ease off the tension with a screwdriver or something, never had to do it and I'm sure it would be a PITA, but it is possible.

Make sure your e-brake is off.
Make sure they are backed all the way off and not all the way tightened against the drum.
You should be able to wack the edges of the drums with a small sledge.

Are there any of the small clips left on the wheel studs? My truck had little sheet metal clips that attach on the studs, and hole the drums on.

sometimes you can get them to break loose by putting the truck up on jack stands, screwing on a couple of lug nuts partway (very important !!), put the truck in gear and give it a little gas and slam on the brakes a few times. don't forget the lug nuts or you might have a drum banging around the shop...

if that doesn't work then a block of wood and a BFH.

Remeber if he has a 3/4 ton, he has to remove the axle shafts, that's how it is on my truck if I am looking at it right.

hmmm, i don't have a 2500, but if i'm reading the haynes manual right, it just pulls off the same as a 1500, other than being bigger and heavier.

i think the axle has to come out of the 2500 front to get the rotor off.
