i don't know if this applies to your 95 or not, but when the pcm determines there's a problem, it puts the transmission in limp mode, which starts out in 2nd gear.
you should be able to shift to D1 or L1, whatever its called and get it to respond. you might? have to disconnect the electrical connector, or, reset the pcm by disconnecting battery and turning on headlights for 30 sec.
