Default Dead Dash

Hi everyone, long time looker, first time poster. Anyway, I tried the search and had no luck, so here's my problem. Over the last few weeks, a couple times when I tried to start my truck, everything would light up like normal. When i moved the key to start, I would hear a click and the entire truck would go dead. I would turn the key off and wait a few seconds and it would usually come back on like normal, but everthing is reset (including the trip odometer). Just today, it wouldn't reset itself and I had to take the car to work. Any ideas or similar experiences from anyone here?

Thanks for the help.

In case my signature doesn't come up, its a 98 1500 w/318/auto/4x4 and just turned over 200k on the odometer.

So the truck still starts and runs?

If not id say theres a bad connection at the battery or alternator.

If it does run, id check your wiring,,,when i ripped apart my harness i found 5 bad wires.

with battery disconnected, i'd unplug and replug the computer.
then clean the battery connections.
see if that helps any.

Sounds like the battery terminal is losing connection.
