NEVER TRUST A CHAIN SHOP! Had my atf+4 and tranny filter in hand and happened to drive by a tranny shop...Baldwin's transmissions. Said what the hell, stopped in and had them perform the drain. Come back to pick up my truck. Guy says he didn't need to use the new gasket supplied Take it home. Next morning there's a puddle of tranny fluid under my truck. Shouted WTF at the top of my lungs, waking the neighbors while making them stare. The pan bolts weren't even tight because I could turn them with a wrench. I didn't think you could reuse gaskets once you broke the seal. I'm taking it back up tommorrow since they were closed on the weekend so the *** can fix it right. Hopefully I have enough fluid in there to make it 25 miles. Shoulda waited till I got to my local guy, I'm such an idiot for not doing that. Wish me luck. Oh and on a happier note, I ordered some new Toyo open country A/t's in size 265 75 16's

 

They use or have reusable gaskets, but i always buy a new one from the dealership everytime. Yeah ef that shop ****.

 

Screw taking your truck to a shop....Especially when you are a member of this forum.

I'm gonna get the same tires in the same size. Our trucks now have 2 things in common!

 

rubber gaskets are reusable.
torque the bolts to spec and it will probably seal the leak.
why not do your own maintenance.

 

That sucks dude, I hate when a shop does BS like that. You better open a can on them. lol They prolly got the new guy to do it, and he forgot to tighten the bolts.

 

i would have it towed back to the shop and make them pay for it, or....of your trans goes on the way back, not knowing how much fluid you lost.....make them pay for that also

 

It didn't fix it, and when it comes to my transmission I don't touch.

 

Believe me they will if it burns up. I've got 2 extra quarts so it should be enough. I'm not sure how much I've lost over the weekend seeing as how my driveway is gravel and it soaks up the fluid.

 

id be over there rippin' them a new *******....and making them pay for everything, and making sure everything does get done.....and just to be an ***, when you leave say "People are going to hear about this"....that will **** them off i bet....sorry im the type that gets revenge

 

I feel the same way, or I should say I did. Had a local "Big Name" transmission shop replace my transmission when the original gave out. They installed one of "their" rebuilt ones and drove it under 100 miles when I heard it snap. Third trany is still working, but I am eagerly searching out a donor truck with a manual transmission, or a really cheap car to drive while my truck is down because all the Automatic stories scare my pocket book
