Some Help With Stalling Issues
ok, i have a 96 Dodge Ram 1500 that for a week and a half have had stalling, issues on my truck. I replaced the fuel pump, tps, iac, both battery cables, plugs, wires, cap and rotor. nothing still problem stalling. Finally found the ignition pickup coil under the distributor cap the 3 wires coming out of it were cracked and rubbing against each other. Finally thats what fixed it. my Ram runs like a champ now.
So for anyone who has had stalling issues you might want to check the ignition pick coil, and check the wires coming out of it. it cost me 400+ dollars to find a 26.00 problem.
Good luck

My Truck has the same problem.. the local mechanic told me to change the pickup coil today. How do you get it out/off? If this is the problem it would help alot.. i've been cursing dodge ever since i bought the truck.
the pickup coil is in the distributor remove the cap remove the rotor and its two bolts i believe..it has a pigtail that comes off it that is three wires that just unplugs from the mail harness..its a fairly straight foward job id recommend removing the aircleaner before attempting it..
installed pickup coil truck runs like a champ! thanks for all your help mrfarrel, i installed it before i read that last post and yes just about smashed that aircleaner i was so mad! ended up taking it off and it made the job alot easier. What kinda auto maker puts the distributor right behind the block basically pressed up against the firewall.. jeez.
