Default another tire thread

okay, so ive been looking to get some new tires... i was going to buy some 285's from treadwright, but im still looking around for possibly bigger... ive been searching the forums all day and havent found an answer that applies to me...

if i look into 35's and stay with my stock 16X7 rims... how bad is it going to be? i know plenty of people have asked how big can they go on the stock rims. but all the responses were "i wouldnt go bigger than 285's BECAUSE youll rub and lose power without regearing any bigger than that.... well im not worried about the rubbing, and im geared for 35's so my question is how bad is it to get a tire that says recommended rim width of 7.5-9 or 8-10 and put it on a rim thats only 7" wide...

thanks for the help

I dont think they make a 35" tire in anything under a 12.50 which really does need an 8-10 wide wheel...not that it wont fit on a 7" wheel but you wont get the performance out of the tire that you normaly would on a wider wheel. I have 285's on my truck with the stock 16x7 wheel and it works flawlessly and doesnt even rub at full lock and mine are nankang mudstars with serious lugs on em.

and I think the actual size in inches of a 285/75 is like 32.8 or something of the sort, I am also at stock ride height so with a 3" lift 35's will clear and do what you want to do , BUT I personally would put them on a 16x8-10 cragar soft 8's....thats the sexxxx lol

sell me the brush guard and you have half your money for the wheels

I hope you didnt get the wrong idea from what I said lol, I wasnt trying to tell you/him they wouldnt work just didnt think (from a personal view) that I didnt think you would get the full potential out of that tall/wide of a tire if you put them on the stockers....if your like me and cant afford em then fawk it by all means put em on your stock wheels lmao...

when I do get wheels I am buying soft 8's I think they are the SEX on red trucks too ive also been leaning towards a wheel called the gunner5 im stuck between the 2......

ive always wondered what my truck would look like with those rims...although my truck is basically all red and black themed.. i like the look that the chrome wheels give. it... black rims just might ruin it for me idk... and the cragar chromes are a little more expensive...

plus the brush guard money was going to go into the tire fund.... i desperatly need tires. and just dont wanna go too small and want bigger (like i did last time)

if there is a discount tire around you can get a set of soft 8's for about 200 bucks but i know thats still pretty expensive if you have a tight budget :P
