Do you know the owner of the Lightning?? If not I would say someone dogged the **** out of it for 49,000 miles.I would. And I'm in my 30's so if I'll drive it like a nut then someone else will too.If you buy something that goes fast because you want something that goes fast then more then likely you're gonna go fast.I had been contemplating buying an Srt-10 truck but I know its either been drove like hell or I'm gonna drive like hell and go broke either way.

Yeah I see where you are coming from, and I have pondered that. No I do not personally know the owner, but it might be worth it to check out. Hopefully I will end up keeping the dodge, but as yakkier said, I'm not really "happy" with my dodge at the moment haha. Maybe I should just give it some time.

Mine does the same thing when going over bumps, annoys the **** outta me cause i keep thinkin i shattered it but nothing ever happens.

Mine has been replaced by the PO im not sure if it's a Mopar or an after market but it's holding up fairly decent from what i can tell.

I am contemplating on ripping the dash off and placing weather stripping where plastic touches plastic.

Yakkier- I hear ya man, I keep thinking I am shattering this one too, especially when it gets real heated up in this Florida sun.

Lastrights- It's not every month, but the repairs are piling up, and I know with a 2nd gen its only a matter of time before the transmission wants to take a dump on me. It has 112k miles. Oil has been changed every 3k with Mobil 1 10-30 fully synthetic.

^^ do what I did:

Took all the parts off my 1997 ram with 150K miles, and bought a 2001 5.9 bone stock with 45K and the chrysler extended waranty and 100 dollar deductible. Since I bought it (jan 2009) I needed these repairs:

1. Transfer case rear seal leak...only paid $100 deductible.
2. Steering pump completely blew up (did not cover hoses, and the damn hose was $170)...Paid $300 for a 700 dollar job.

The warranty is good until 99,998 miles or may 2012. Not bad.

Plus you can take off all the parts you currently have and save them for when the warranty expires...Like i am doing. However, the headers and exhaust will probably not match.

Shoulda replaced the upper ball joints too while doing the lowers.

Always good to keep your options open, just keep in mind anything you get will need maintainence, and will come with its fair share of headaches too.

Thanks CPTA for the advice.

xray- if the uppers are fine leave them be for now.

Lastrights- I don't put too many miles on a month, I just changed the oil Sunday at 112,000, last change was 109,000 in early December. So 1k a month give or take. I am hoping to get as much miles as possible out of this transmission. Changing the fluid here shortly, its been a little over 30k miles.
