Several things
So I have a few things I wanted to ask, so I decided to post them all in one thread rather than post them in several different threads. I figured it would be easier.
My first question/topic of discussion:
I went to the local Discount Tire store and purchased 4 new tires. They are Hankook's. They are 285/75 r16's. My questions are:
1. Will these tires rub? I have a stock 4x4 ram. No lift or re-gear.
2. Has anyone heard anything good/bad about these particular tires?
3. Do you think these tires will look good on my truck?
I really wanted another set of Toyo Open Country A/T's, but they didn't have them, and I thought they were a good deal for the price.
My second question is:
I wanted to fix the rust on the bottom of the doors and the bumpers. I was planning on using bondo and painting it, but I think it would just rust again. I could use fiberglass, but I'm afraid that a rock will hit it while driving.
The bumpers are a whole different story. The rear bumper is not too bad. The front bumper, on the other hand, has rust spots all over it, and part of the bumper is falling apart (the bumper appears to be made of 3 parts: the metal in the center, a plastic piece that goes around the bottom and sides, and a plastic piece that sits on top of the other 2 parts). The second piece is no longer connected to the metal piece or the other plastic piece that sits on top of it. I'm looking for an easy and cheap fix. Any suggestions?
My last question is kind of related to the previous one.
Is it even worth fixing the rust/bumpers? My truck has 226,000 miles on her, and I don't want to put a bunch of money into something that is just going to break shortly after. I do everything I can to keep the truck in the best condition possible, and it runs as strong as it ever has, but still. That's alot of miles.

IMO don't fear the miles. If you like the truck and it's running good then the cosmetic issues should be addressed. Properly maintained a lot of modern vehicles will hit the 300,000 mark and better.
Personaly I'ld use bondo, if you can remove the rust enough it should'nt rust anymore with bondo than with fiberglass. I'm not a body man though.
Seems that from what I've read 285's might rub at tight turns but it seems to vary.

I have 285's on my stock 1500, they clear fine except for a tiny bit of rubbing on the control arms at full turn.... If you don't mind gaining a bit of turning radius, you can adjust the steering stops on the knuckles so they don't turn quite as far... I was looking at a set of hancooks for mine too, what ones are they?

I run Hancooks on mine in the winter, havn't had any problems with the tires and I have put approx 50000 km on them and they still have lots of life left. I personally wouldn't use bondo on the truck, bondo is just meant to be a skim coat to take out any minor imperfections in the body. The true solution is to get new panels and replace the old rusty one's.

Well, the tires do rub a bit when i make a really sharp turn, but it's not too bad. The truck is a bit sluggish during acceleration. It's noticeable, but not enough to be concerned about. The tire is a Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10.
As far as the cosmetic issues go, I will definitely look for a replacement for what I can.
Does anyone have any suggestions for the bumper?

Also, would I be able to pull the doors and bumpers from a 3/4 ton ram and put them on mine? From what I understand, the bumpers on sport models before '99 are the same as non-sport. I just don't know if the bumpers and doors are the same on 2500's as 1500's. There's only one junkyard close to where I am, and they only have the one 2500 there. They have a few Ford's and Chevy's, but no Dodge's.
