Default New Exhaust System Help!

I have a 1999 5.2l. and I want to put true dual Flowmaster Super 44's. I wanted to order them at O'reillys but they said super 44's wouldnt work on this truck. Any help would be awesome, and I think the i/o is 2.5 offset, does anyone know for sure.

You can run w/e you want. I run a 44, just not true dual. (I have run fake duals out the back, then chopped them off to dump under the bed (mega sweet), and have a new 44 single in out c/c that turns out the side) I'd just go to a shop and have them run true duals if that is truely what you want. you arn't going to save much by getting them at o'reillys. That will save you the hassel of guessing. you could get 2.5 mufflers, but the shop may want to run 2.25 for pipe since it is true dual. get what im saying? Also depends how they want to run true duals and what inlet / outlet configurations they need. Too many varriables to give an answer.

Thanks, and you mentioned you had them cut. Do you mean like no-show pipe. How does that sound?

I just chopped it where it came out of the muffler, then put a turn down on. Resonated the cab like a **** in the back seat. No one would ride back there. Sounded awesome imho. I ran it like that until it needed inspected and had a new highflow cat, & muffler welded and brought out the side before the tire.

Does it help much (mileage/power) having true duel exhaust vs one pipe coming out one side?

With it cut, it had a more distinct idle, and... yeah was perfect for me imho. Problem was everyone complained because the drone was unbearable in the back seat. I never sat back there so I never had a problem Depending on the gear, you would have a little more difficult time talking in the truck too. I will say it is amazing what the difference is just by adding the 90 degree bend and turning it out the side. Like I said that little change and it is so much quieter in the cab. hmm... makes me want a cut out now... thanks for reminding me

If you don't run a cross pipe with true duals, I've heard you loose power because of the lack of scavenging effect. The size of exhaust also comes into play which affects the exhaust velocity. Too large of a pipe allows the exhaust gases to cool some and expand before they excape. Too small of a pipe will affect top end.

I just got the new muffler put in. I tried getting true duals but he said i needed another c/c because my truck only had one. I tried slipping him some extra cash to just go ahead and do it without the c/c but he would do it. I got a Flowmaster Super 44. 1 inlet/2outlet, and it dumps right after the muffler, sounds badass. Including muffler and service it was only about $150.

i love my pipes, i dont run the glasspack anymore... i have a set of pacesetter shortie headers, magnaflow hiflow cat, and then a length of pipe, just enough enough to hit that hanger on the begining of the bed ( i have that hanger turned around) and a dump angled out to the side at a 45*... IMO and alot of people i have heard talk about my truck, it sounds amazing... if i open the rear glass, at highway, you have to speak up, but its possible to tlak, but if im hittin it, expecially over 3k rpm, HOLY SHI!T! sounds liek a monster truck ( oh wait, i think i have that, lol) but i am very known at the mud bogs lately because of my exhaust, only trucks louder then me, are the ones runnin hood headers...
