Default 1999 dodge possible purchase

lookin at a 99' Ram 1500. took her for a testdrive, heres what i found; passengers ujoints shot. no biggie.
steering concerned me. trackbar had a bit of movement.
power steering pump or the box were leaking fairly bad. other than that i think it was good.

other issue, when moving from park to in gear, reverse etc, the little indicator did not move all the way into position. the truck sure did; is this bad or a simple fix like tightening the cable.

overall i like the truck. it has high KM on it, but good enough body, and Toyo Open countries at like, 70%

its the cheapest one i've found in Calgary, Alberta that doesn't smell like pee, and actually runs semi decent.
what do you think? i'm going to offer him 2000$ CAD cash.

thanks gents.

may need a tranny replacment soon....and yes the indicater has a string that goes to the shifter, and whn you pull down the shifter it pulls the string to the proper place....mine was weird too, PO said he messed it up when doing the tranny....so i said screw it....

2000, and you'll have to put about a grand into it....so its up to you...plenum is blown in it, so it may seem powerless/bad mpgs as well

I bought mine off kijiji too

It's a real nice lookin truck, I don't care much for the plywood bedliner though... Remember that you are buyin a 10 year old truck, of course it's probably gonna need a few things. It WILL have issues, like the plenum gasket that 95 mentioned, and we are all familiar with the sloppy steering feel...

I would say it's a good deal for 2 grand..... I paid 4200 for mine a year or so ago, and that was after I got him down from almost 6 grand

oh and mine currently has ~295000 kms on it, and still runs like a champ, plenum excluded lol

ya. agree with you guys. i'm picking it up monday. have to put registration etc. on it. i'm pretty stoked. it has some minor things, but i'm pretty handy so its no biggie. quick trip to Picknpull for a steering box a tracbar off ebay and a ujoint and she should be golden. will do the plenum as well because my neighbour will be doing his. so we can learn on his truck
also lookin at a 2" lift and some 35s might sell the stock toyo's to my neighbour too
i'll post pics when i get it!

Just so you know unless you plan to be lifting it more then 2" your not going to clear 35's. Just a good list to keep in mind for these trucks.

2" lift (leveling kit) good for 285/75r/16 tires and stock 355 gears.
3" lift (body or suspension) good for 33"x12.50" tires and 410 gears.
5" lift (suspension) good for 35"x12.50" tires and 456 gears.
