problem turning in 4H
ok gentlemen I am a Noob to this forum but not to car forums in general ( i beleieve i'm an expert on plenum gaskets lol) So i believe i have exausted the search methods in looking for a fix to my problem which is...
I can barely turn in 4H at all maybe 3/4 turn of the wheel and it feels like The truck wants to snap in half jerking and squeaking loudly
I recently was told it could be my wheel bearing but when i took everything apart i reliezed the universal joint on the driver side was completely shot. After fixing that it still does the jerking
the only thing that actually worked for about 10 minutes was.... for ****s and giggles I backed out of my driveway and before i did i turned the wheel left and right several times. then while pulling out i turned it hard right. then magically i had NO turning issues. Then 10 minuests later i made a turn and it came back full force
anyone that can help would be great thank you any response is appreciated

steering gear box? def no question? update I will say it isnt jerking as much after the one U-Joint replacement,although still bad i was going to change the other one tomorrow to see if it helps...but I will look into a steering gear box. thank you

Do not use the four wheel drive on dry pavement. You risk destroying lots of drive train parts. When four wheel drive is activated, both axles are forced together. When they're forced together, both the front and rear wheels must be going the same speed. When the wheels are turned, they won't spin at the same speed on dry pavement, causing binding. Binding is the jerking that you're feeling. It's all the force from the wheels trying to turn at the same rate, then the force releases suddenly. This will lead to parts breaking if it's done enough.
Let me finish my response from earlier, my comp was acting up and wouldnt let me edit it.
Now as they said dont use it on dry pavement or any solid surface at low speeds, high speeds yea i can see it such as wanting a little more traction on the freeway during the winter thats cool, but while turning into a driveway or a parking spot. Not the best idea, also reason i said steering box is because you can end up screwing up the steering and messing up the gears in the box.

ok gotchya... yeah i'm telling you guys though this is not natural the pavment is not causeing this its def something wrong i have drivin 4 by 4s before and never have i encountered jerking like this and the loud squeaking with it

Load sqeeking could be from the powersteering pump, bearings could be going out in it and that would explain why it jerks. The power steering will kick in then kick out continuously.
