Default Tranny Rebuild?

I'm going to go look at a 95 Ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.9. The truck will drive forward, but not in reverse. I'm assuming the tranny will need to be rebuilt. What is the cost of a tranny rebuild on one of these trucks (i plan on pulling and installing the transmission myself) Thanks for any help!

assume the worst. shop rebuilds with pull/install run in the 1500-2000 range. since shops can pull transmissions so fast, i wouldn't expect a huge discount for doing that work yourself. internet rebuilt transmissions generally generally run around 1200-1800 and up depending on how many expensive parts are installed.

be sure to get a new torque converter, remove the check valve, and flush the cooler lines.

i'll post this just for the sake of discussion, and as a starting point on prices, however DO YOUR HOMEWORK, and I do NOT endorse this place. someone recently had a bad experience with them, but i don't know if thats normal or not.
http://milleniumtransmissions.com/ $1006 for your 95, incl TC and shipping.

other performance places are $1500, 1800, 2500+
