yeah sell it and buy a compact car . Seriously there are a thousand threads on this here just search "bad mpg" and read...my guess is the usually blown plenum gasket of course I dont know what tire size or gears you have either..
If you drive it with a lead foot you will burn a lot more gas as well...

i wish i could get 270 miles to a tank, im lucky to get 210. People buy our trucks because they want a "big boys toy" then realise theres a whole hell of alot more to it than just buying it.

check your plenum gasket and make sure thats not blown, use our search feature at the top of the page and look up blown plenum gasket there will be 100's of threads about it, pick one then start reading.

I have a stock 5.9L 4X4 exd cab with 285 tires with a k&n air filter. Its been very well taken care of. o ya the plenum is not blown there is no old on the top of the motor and my truck seems to run just fine.

your tank has 24 gallons, so you are getting about 12 MPG. THat is about right for our trucks.

Sorry man, you bought a truck.

Truck: A vehicle that weighs about 5600lbs and has a big engine in it. It's gears are not fuel friendly because the people who buy trucks tend to need to haul things.

If it makes you feel better, I just sold my old STOCK Chev. K10 with a 400 small-block, 4 bl. and trailering package. On a GOOD day, down hill and with a tail-wind I'd get 11. Cold day around town...8 or 9.
Not that I wouldn't welcome better, but it makes my Dodge seem like a Prius. As mentioned by the others, you did buy a truck.

Actually, I remember getting 310 miles per tank on my 1996. I used to drive from Ft Drum to Bergen county NJ, and all I needed was a tank (cutting it close).

My last truck had these:

They are 4 hole injectors and you have a 1 hole injector. They will help burn all the fuel and are only a little larger than the stock injectors. So they will not throw the computer off or O2 sensors
