Thumbs up new member has question?

i have 01 ram 1500 . has dana 44 cad front axle not happy with it after all the snow this winter in the north east , and now with all the mud on my farm , itsdecide not to work finally got to itsthe actuator at the axle ,but jut a cheap poor design i think , anybody ever swapped out this axle and ran something else , was thinking i might go 4 x 4 posi lock , but if anybody know what would work better please give me a shout ,wv dodge

You can either put in a 4x4PosiLok or you can put a solid shaft in with no disconnect.

I would go with the posilock if I were you. These vacuum actuated setups can be a little finicky sometimes. I'm gonna do it when mine craps out.

thanks for reply called 1 dodge dealership today just to check price ,quoted me priced of $299.99 for the acuator , seen posi lock for $200.00 or there about seems like nobrainer . other mods i have custom upper and lower arms from top gunz customs and lt 245 75 16 guard dog from tread wright [ there an execellent product by the way ] pacesetter cold air heartthrob exhaust and timbrien springs in back

if you want to keep screwing around with the cad, it usually just a rusty shaft or broken e-clip or some other stupid little problem. its also available a junkyards and aftermarket places.

how do you like your timbrens? awesome aren't they.
