I did press the top one out, the problem was that the fork would not remove the spindle, i literally split the fork around the joint . since the lowers are pressed in upwards I just taped em out, the uppers are pressed in downwards so in order for me to remove the uppers I had to first remove the spindle which required hacking the uppers in half. once the spindle was off I used the press to press out the remaining ball joint

 

Don't get me wrong, hacking is sometimes the only way.
I had to hack off a seized lugnut last week, I tried a right angle grinder, air chisel then finally beat the whole lug off with a hammer.
