Default Weekend project (fuel mileage)

Aside from my tranny drain and fill, I will be doing this:

Swapping Fuel Injectors
Stockers will get the 24# 4 hole Dodge motorsport injectors i had on my 1996 5.2. I think the 4 holes will really help performance and mileage. Right now I get 8.9 city miles per gallon (12.5 hwy). I only drive to and from work, and to wallmart/autozone no highway and no more than 400 feet before I hit a light or stopsign. So that is why the city MPG is really bad.

4 weeks later, I will be installing my MSD ignition (also that was in the 1996) and a performance coil.

I will see how well the injectors helped the performance and mileage, then I will put the MSD in and see if that helps even more.

I used to have 16 average MPG on my 1996 5.2, and my 2001 5.9 is a darn pig. I hardly drive it, but I am getting really bored on the weekends and the weather is getting nice in Arkansas.

BTW, anyone have any tips on how to solder wires? Or should I just twist them and use shrink tube like I did the last time. I just keep hearing people say "YOu gotta solder the wires." But the injector wires are so thin.

Thoughts?

They do not have a price, but they are 385 for a set of 8. Bruce gave me a set of the EV1 connectors for free. Just call him. Actually, if you do a search on that part number, it will redirect you to another page that has a price...they are the same injectors.

They also sell direct replacements for our rams, but they are only 22#. My truck runs at 49-50 PSI, so these injectors actually run 25.5 lb/hr in my truck. DO NOT BELIEVE THE 43PSI that the manual tells you. Both my dodge rams have 49 PSI at idle

THese are the stage 1 upgrades for our trucks:

80 dollars cheaper, but they are only 22lb/hr. The only thing different is they have 4 holes instead of 1 like ours.

I would get the blue tops in case you ever go F-1/cam/1.7s. I don't know if you ever had a carb engine, but people used to say "It is not a MOD unless you have to get bigger jets."

It gives you that leeway to get the best from your mods.

Well, I have 1.7 roller rockers, so I'm thinking about the first set. Thanks!

Where were you when I was selling them..about 1 month ago? I was gonna let them go for half price, with connectors.

But now I just can't resist to mod my 2001. Screw the fact that i have a warranty to 2011. That is only 1 year away and I am really bored.
