If the reader will not read it try turning the key from off to the "on" position 3 times leaving it in the "on" position the third time.
If there are any codes they will show up where your mileage is normally displayed if you have digital dash or the check engine light will flash them out if you don’t have digital dash.

welcome to df.

and if that doesn't work, visit a autozone-type parts store and they'll read the codes for free. write down the actual code number and post it back here. do NOT just come back with autozone's interpretation of the code nor a new 02 sensor that you might not need. bring back the code number.

the whistling noise is just the IAC opening up more to try and keep it running.

thanks i'll try that , the od meter wont read out either when check engine light os on also, but it sure sounds like tps or 02 sensors from what peaple are saying on here, and its running rough somtimes driving down the road, and hard on gas, so new 02 sensors are prob needed anyhow, for gas mileage at least , thanks guys i'll let you know how i made out for sure ,thanks kevin in kamloops can.

Did you get this figured out? I will be in Cache Creek fixing a customers boat tomorrow, Saturday. If you can get your truck there I will go over it for you. Pm me and let me know.
