Default Overdrive issues

I have a 1999 Dodge 1500 4X4 and the transmission acts like it shifts part of the way in and out of overdrive and it seems to do a little worse when I increase or decrease in throttle slightly, can you give me any ideas to what it may be?

like when going up a hill the OD will kick in like it should but after like 2-3 seconds it will start going in and out of OD.

maybe it is shifting in an effort to find the right gear to climb the hill?...Have you tried turning OD off for the hills?

get your tranny serviced if you haven't, new oil, filter, check the governor pressure solenoids when you got the pan off and check the wire harness going to the solenoids. I would start there.
