Default Help!!! 96 dodge ram 1500 5.7

i need help with a problem. i go to start my truck and it starts but it almost dies and then seems to catch a squirt of gas and revs up. it does this over and over.. i hear the fuel pump running loud seems like it should be getting the gas with the way the pumps is running. my check engine light came on and it was rich and lean bank so 1 O2 sensor was changed light is off now and hasnt come back on. If i shoot a bit of startin fluid down the carb it stays reved up high so that is making me think it is not getting the fuel it needs.. can anyone help.... its a 96 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 Mag 5.7

I'd say the Idle Air Control (IAC) sensor needs to been cleaned or replaced. It controls how much air the engine gets at idle. Also your truck has either the 5.2L or 5.9L engine. Welcome to DF!!

I agree the IAC would be a great place to start...I keep an extra one in the garage.

Since you didnt know your engine size, i assume you have no idea what the IAC is. Its on the Back of the Throttle Body base. The only sensor back there. Then theres 2 on the side.
