make sure both surfaces are clean and dry. scrape off any gunk and don't let it fall down in the intake. check that the t-stat housing is not cracked or has cancer. run the bolts down through the threads and check they are clean.

put a coat of rtv on both sides of the gasket and around the holes.
put rtv on the threads of the bolts.
install and torque as required.

Still leaking?...Is it from the housing, or gasket area?....Take it apart again, inspect, make sure tstat hasn't rode up on one side or the other of the manifold sealing surface or gasket fell off and instal as noted by others. The only change that I may add from what everyone uses for a sealant is Permatex Avation sealant. For me it works very well. Repeat until leak is gone. Tighten bolts evenly too. Don't crank down one bolt and then try to stop it leaking by tightening the last bolt. It cracks the outlet housing, I know cause I cracked one.

Just tryin to help, sprntpshr

I usually use permatex to hold the gasket to the housing. Makes it easier to clean the manifold surface next time.
