Default 97 dodge driver side u joint

My 97 dodge ram 4x4 driver side u joint is shot.How do u you get this thing out?My Haynes repair manual does not tell about it.The ujoints look permanent not pressed.are they part of the shaft.do i need any special tools and what is the cost? thanks in advance look like it is going to be a repair weekend plus i have to pull the ignition out of my 73 scamp o well mopar weekend.

once you get you axle shaft out, just change the u joint like you would any normal u joint. its not permanent or anything. do a search and there is a DIY

search past threads here for tips on getting the big axle nut off, and getting the damn bearing out of the knuckle.

you'll need a 1-11/16 socket for the axle, and a 12 point um- 9/16 or 14mm? can't recall.
