i would throw a set of headers on....and right from the collector go to a size3 in pipe, skip the cats, and then mount up some flowmasters....with the tail pipes right out the side in front of the rear tires bc its cheaper then runing mounts and pipe all the way out the back... if ur skilled at all you should be able to do the headers yourself and let a muffler shop do the rest

Headers, no cats, h-pipe, no mufflers, and tips, 2" or 2.25" pipe if you want it to rap when you get on the throttle. 2.25" is also best performance size for a stock 360 in a truck, it keeps the bottom end scavenging for good torque. Dump where ever you want.

Would that give the rumble at idle and though 1800 rpmish than turn

to the rap? Also what headers are cheepISH but yet good? if that makes

sence?

each other? Sound?

Stainless steel headers will turn purple-ish after only a short time, due to the heat.
Painted headers' paint will peel shortly after first use. The paint is designed to keep them from rusting on the shelves, not block heat after install.
Ceramic (of some sort) coated headers are the best but most expensive way to go.

No offense intended, but if you go cheap on headers, you will be paying for it later.

Long tubes will give you better performance than shorties, but will also require a reworking of your exhaust system.

No offense taken at all, would it be possible to paint

the headers with some sort of engine high heat paint

and then they wont crack or turn purple?

Stainless steel doesn't rust (at least, it isn't supposed to.....), so, no real point in painting it, the 'bluing' is due to heat. No big deal. If you want it shiny and nice, either dont drive it, or, invest in some brasso.......

headers can get HOT. Glowing red if things aren't quite right.... not sure there IS a paint that could stand up to that. Under normal circumstances..... I don't even think engine paint would stay on, but, it might. You would have to do some extensive prep work first though, like, get all the current paint off... and make sure they were squeaky clean.

Ceramic coated is the best way to go, but, i think the cheapest coated headers I have seen were over 300 bucks.... and it didn't say if they were coated on the inside as well.
