Default Hughes plate / kegger mod!

Thinking about fixing my plenum soon with the hughes setup but was wondering... Is the hughes gasket and plate upgrade a permanent fix or am i going to be doin this... lets say 2-5 years from now again? Or would it be easier to just save up and do the FI air gap manifold and never have to worry about the plenum problem again. Also what is this kegger mod? i see people have it on thier signatures but what is it and what is involved in doin it. I see hughes has modified keggers for sale on thier website is that it?

The aluminum plate fixes it forever.

Plate is $86
FI Airgap is $600

The Hughes modified kegger is a HUGE ripoff.

Do a search, there is a DIY on the Kegger Mod.

The "kegger mod" adds a bit up top without losing almost any (if any at all) bottom end.

The Hughes plenum reinforcement kit (aluminum plate) that Purpl described is what I did middle or so of last year. No problems yet. It solves the two issues that the original design had... bolts and steel plate. So there is no reason why it'd fail again.

However, if you really want a fool-proof guarantee, there is always the FI airgap that runs about $600, as Purpl also described.

o.k. i did a search on the m1 and the hughes air gap. It seems like the m1 you loose bottom end but gain top end. Top end power is not my main concern as i do tow and haul things often. So i do not want to loose any bottom end at all. The hughes air gap is supposed to keep the low end power but some people say that theres not much difference between the two intakes. So i guess i'll just stick to the stock kegger and do the hughes kit. Also does anyone have a link to the diy kegger mod. I did a search but couldn't find one.

I took a good look at my engine today and noticed that there is alot of caked up oil near my valve covers. Is that from my blown plenum gasket or do I have a more serious problem. I can post a pic if necessary.

^^ Is nothing more than a modified Edelbrock RPM Performer series with a adapter on top....IMHO ^^

Now take on the http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DC...2/?image=large and it has better porting and high flow to direct to the valve, as well as it sets higher up with long runners which means cooler temperature of air going directly into the heads version the RPM version.

The RPM version was built for 1500 RPM to 5500 RPM. The Mopar is a complete overhaul build with better flow but with that you get the 2000 - 6000 RPM increases.

Which is better?????

But to me, that Hughes is nothing but a sore eye.

So has anyone used the:http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DC...2/?image=large? I was looking at replaceing my intake. I've heard a lot of good things in the power department for the hughes kit, but haven't seen anything on this one.
